Triple Challenge – All Tangled Up Reindeer

Friday Free 4 All – Holly Greetings

Saturday – Inspiration Challenge: Hollanders. I chose this holly paper.

Sunday – Featured Stamper: Anita Madden a.k.a. Zacksmeema. I was inpsired bythis gorgeous card!

My card:

* I used the same layout but made an A2 card instead of a square card.
* I used similar images and embellishments.
* I changed the dp but wanted to keep the script. The lightest I found was daffodil delight and it made the card much brighter than it already was. That seems to be my main style this Christmas anyway 🙂

Stamps: All Tangled up Reindeer – Whipper Snapper, holly – DRS Designs, sentiment – $1 stamp
Paper: SU real red & daffodil delight dsp, Creative Memories holly dp (retired?)
Ink: Memento black, Copic markers
Tools: Martha Stewart snowflake punch
Accessories: half pearls, SU real red taffeta ribbon

Featured Stamper Challenge: What is it?

In the next post, I posted two featured stamper challenge cards. Commenting in the gallery brought me here to explain the challenge.

What seems like a very long time ago, 2005-2008, I was the hostess of the now extinct Limited Supplies Challenge on Splitcoast Stampers. As part of that challenge, I would occasionally have a featured stamper challenge. It was a very well liked challenge so I approached some moderators and started what is now THE Featured Stamper challenge on Sundays. I never intended to hostess it long term and handed it over to another hostess a month later.

I still love this challenge, but I am very saddened that the original intent has disappeared for some stampers. The idea was to make some changes, but it should also resemble the original card. There are so many sketch challenges on the web these days that simply copying the sketch is just that… copying the sketch and not CASEing a card when everything else is different. First and foremost, the image should be similar and then the same or similar sketch. Little things after that can be modified.

CASE = copy and share everything (SCS started out as a Stampin’ Up demonstrator site.)

Here are some good examples of CASEd cards in this week’s challenge:

pawallen142 – this is the card she CASEd.

Serenity_Stamper – this is the card she CASEd.

Reddyisco – this is the card she CASEd.

angelladcrockett – this is the card she CASEd.

Vicky Gould – this is the card she CASEd.

SCS Featured Stamper Cards

Featured Stamper: Julie Dinn, better know as stampinjewelsd!

* I used the same colors and layout but left off a layer and used the white base card. I even have the same ribbon!
* I used a single stocking image and different sentiment.
* I did faux stitching.

Here’s Julie’s beautiful card.
Stamps: Gina K Designs
Paper: Stampin’ Up dsp
Ink: Memento black, Copic markers, SU old olive marker
Tools: Spellbinders Nestabilities, square punch (to make the banners)
Accessories: SU black gingham ribbon

* I used different colors, less layers and added bling and ribbon.
* I stamped the ornaments instead of used die cuts.
* I used a circle instead of an oval for the main image and moved the sentiment.
* Instead of using three panels, I used a zig-zag border punch (because I noticed quite a few recent cards using a zig-zag pattern.) I had to use a Martha Stewart border punch to make the zig-zag design.

Here’s Julie’s beautiful card.

Stamps: Gina K Designs
Paper: SU real red & so saffron, unknown dp
Ink: Memento black, Copic markers, SU real red, brilliant blue, rich razzleberry
Tools: Martha Stewart border punch, SU oval, circle and design label punches, Spellbinders Nestabilities
Accessories: ribbon, rhinestones
